The maximum installation height of a UPS system has a direct influence on its performance. By default UPS systems designed for reliable operation up to an altitude of 1,000 m above sea level and at ambient temperatures of up to +40 °C.

However, from an altitude of over 1,000 m above sea level, the cooling capacity of the devices decreases. This means that the higher the installation location, the more either the permissible operating temperature must be lowered or the output power of the UPS system must be reduced to ensure safe and efficient operation.
