The downtime, also known as Mean Down Time (MDT), is the average time a system takes from the moment of failure until it is fully operational again.

This key figure is a central indicator of system availability and plays a crucial role in areas such as IT infrastructure, industrial plants or UPS systems. A high downtime can lead to significant production downtime, data loss or cost increases, especially in business-critical applications.
