Active mains filter

In modern power supplies and electronic devices, the conversion of alternating current into direct current generates so-called harmonics, i.e. frequencies that are a multiple of the mains frequency (50 Hz). These harmonics flow back to the energy supplier via the neutral conductor and can interfere with other electronic devices, which has a negative impact on the power quality.
